I’m pleased to announce that Indigo Octagon
Projects, the small and loose collective of artists I’m a member of with Chris
Cowdrill and Andrew Smith and HR Smoke, has found a distributor for our
publications with Rope Press, a new Artist Book shop in Birmingham. It’s just
the sort of opportunity we’ve been looking for, and they also take their wares
to various book and fanzine fairs which is exciting.
We have collaborated and created four
publications to date in the form of fanzine-like pamphlets for either our group
or individual exhibitions or more recently as an end in itself with ‘The
Compulsive Orgonists of West Bromwich’ (interestingly where tonight’s election
Question Time is hosted!).

The other ones have been ‘If A Picture Paints A
Thousand Words Then Why Can’t I Paint’; ‘Stolen Car’; and ‘Black Highway’. The
latter two being accompaniments to my exhibitions, but with design by Chris and
written contributions from Andrew. They have all contained a mixture of
writing, poetry, illustration and photography and have sold quite well at the
exhibitions.

It’s a great opportunity for us, and Rope
Press is a great new outlet for the regions artists who have creative interests
like this. There are some great books by others in the shop, as well as
printmaking workshops and artist residencies and projects. Hopefully it will
spur Indigo Octagon on to develop more work together….
Our publications will be on sale there in a
couple of weeks. Here’s a link to their Facebook page:
